2nd Cavalry Regiment puts Stoat robot to work hauling weapons and casualties

Soldiers from the 2nd Cavalry Regiment used Azak's S26 Stoat, a small four-wheeled uncrewed ground vehicle, to carry heavy weapons and evacuate a simulated casualty during an Oct. 21 exercise at Grafenwoehr, Germany. The regiment has received 3 of 26 vehicles bought through an accelerated procurement path. The test shows how robots could lighten loads for dismounted troops, though wider fielding plans were not detailed.

Why it matters

Small logistics robots are the first autonomous systems most soldiers will actually touch. Buying 26 vehicles through an accelerated path and then handing them to a line unit in Europe is how the Army figures out what it wants before the big programs of record are written.
