Pentagon spent over $115 million on ground robots this year, far short of Ukraine's pace

The U.S. military committed more than $115 million to uncrewed ground vehicle projects in fiscal 2026, according to contract records reviewed by Defense One, while Ukraine ordered more than 22,000 ground robots in seven months. U.S. efforts lean toward more autonomous designs, such as the Marine Corps' NMESIS missile launchers and Overland AI's IBEX vehicles for logistics and counter-drone work. Whether U.S. buying will scale up is still unclear.
